Obituary for ROMERO

Hilario "Larry" Romero, Jr., died Thursday, September 4, 2003, of cancer. He was 62. Romero was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and a 1960 graduate of the old Albuquerque High School. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1997, then worked for Tri-Core Reference Laboratories for the past six years. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where he and his wife were extensively involved in the Pre-Cana Marriage Program for 28 years. Romero was an avid collector of antique automotive memorabilia and spent countless hours working on his display collection. He took great pride in showing his collection to friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Hilario Romero, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rosalie Romero; son, Gabriel Romero; mother, Mary Romero; sister, Phyllis Romero; brothers, Polidor (Polo) Romero and wife, Sandra, and John Romero and wife, Frances; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be: nephews Jay Atencio, Mark Atencio, John Romero, Jr., Joseph Valdez, Manuel Valdez and Antonio Sandoval. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Saturday, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m., Monday, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1860 Griegos NW, Albuquerque.
