GOODMAN, MARION TAICHERT Marion peacefully passed away in Encino, California, on January 4, 2015. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. and Annie Stein Taichert, of Las Vegas, New Mexico and sister, Dr. Louise Taichert Feldman, of Santa Fe. Marion was born in 1922 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She is survived by her husband Sam Goodman; sons, Stuart Goodman of Albuquerque, David Goodman and grandson Jacob Goodman of Nashville, Tennessee; and sister Elaine Taichert Zohn of Denver, Colorado. After graduating high school, Marion pursued her love of theater and enrolled in Pasadena Playhouse, in California. She often mentioned that Raymond Burr, who played Perry Mason in the television series, was her classmate. Marion also attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee. Marion was an accomplished piano player and after hearing a popular song on the radio, could sit down and play it by ear. Needless to say, she was the life of the party. Marion returned to Las Vegas where she met Sam Goodman, who was stationed at Camp Luna. He was transferred to the Army Air Corp Base in West Palm Beach, Florida where they had a military wedding in 1943. They most recently celebrated their 72nd anniversary. Marion and Sam after World War II returned to Las Vegas, where Sam joined the Joseph A.Taichert Company and learned the wool, hide, and pelt business. Marion was a Cub Scout leader and also ran the snack bar at little league. At the annual Paul D. Henry Elementary School carnival, she would dress up as the gypsy fortune teller. She would read the tea leaves and predict that each little girl would become a princess and each boy would get a pony. She loved to play golf. She was also an avid gardener, and had colorful flower and bountiful vegetable gardens. She earned her teaching credentials at New Mexico Highlands University and taught middle school for many years. She enjoyed directing, choreographing, and producing the annual benefit talent show. In 1980, Sam changed companies and he and Marion moved to southern California where it was warm all year. Marion would travel with Sam on business trips to Asia and Europe. She enjoyed playing golf and the accessibility to the many art venues. Marion had a lovely service and was laid to rest at Mt. Sinai Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills. Contributions can be made to a charity of choice that would honor the memory of Marion Goodman.
