WEST, VAN TAYLOR Van Taylor West, age 95, born Oct. 6, 1919 in Asphaltum, Oklahoma passed away Feb. 16, 2015. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00am at Bellamy Funeral Home Hiram Chapel. Graveside Services will be held Monday at 11:30am at Georgia National Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Hendrix West; his mother Jewel Olive Taylor; and brother Richard Oscar West. Survivors include: his wife Gladys Carolyn West; three sons - Van Lee and Karen West of Georgia, John Taylor and Geralynn West of Georgia and James Hardy and Karyn West of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nine grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Van graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marines Academy in Kings Point, NY. After serving as an officer in the Merchant Marines during WWII, Mr. Van West married Gladys Carolyn Mock and became a long-time resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico. His business pursuits were in business, owning a Ford agency, a fast food restaurant, Real Estate, and the Savings and Loan business. Bellamy Funeral Home Hiram are in charge of arrangements.
