Obituary for PALMER

PALMER, JESSIE Jessie E. Palmer, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. She was born on June 7, 1925 in Pine Valley, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ernest and Mabel (Peterson) Palmer. After graduating from high school in Tomah, Wisconsin and receiving a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin, she moved to Denver and pursued a career in journalism at Mountain Bell. During her work at the telephone company, she assumed management positions in Denver and Albuquerque. A pioneer in her field, she was supported by her involvement in the Denver Woman's Press Club. Upon retirement, she dedicated her time to work with the elderly. She was an avid photographer and was inspired to travel and ski by her love of the mountains of the West. Her caring nature was a blessing to all who knew her. A supportive person, she combined inner strength with kindness & understanding toward others. Jessie is remembered by her loving brother Gerald "Jerry"; sister-in-law Margaret; nieces and nephews Alice (Mark), James, Laura (Brian), Vickie (Chu), William, Pam, Robert L., and Mary (Doug); many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father William, brothers Wendell and Wayne, sisters-in-law Rosemary "Alice" and Kathryn "Kay", nephew John, niece Sharon, and dear friends Felicia and Harold. Special thanks to the staff at Artisan Senior Living. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of New Mexico John J. Aragon Endowed Scholarship in Journalism.
