Obituary for MARR

MARR, VIRGINIA LEE passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the age of 96, while surrounded by her loving family. She lived a long and fulfilling life. Born on a dry farm in South Eastern Wyoming on September 8, 1918. She graduated from Guernsey High School in Wyoming in 1936. She moved to work in Long Beach, California for Lockheed Aircraft Company. She married the love of her life Robert in Las Vegas, Nevada in March 1942. In February 1957 Robert and Virginia moved to Los Alamos and lived in the Chapel apartments. Robert took a job with the Los Alamos National Labs as a machinist. Virginia was a cosmetologist for over 20 years. Virginia became involved in numerous activities with the United Church of Los Alamos. She was Alter Flower chairman for years, helped with the annual Christmas Bazaar, and was the 1st chairman of "Lift." She was an avid square dancer for 50 years, where she started in Wyoming. One of her greatest achievements was helping Robert build the house on Barranca Mesa. (The house with the Christmas lights on Barranca Mesa.) Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie and Lee Blevins and her brothers, Wylie and Richard Blevins. She is survived by her beloved husband of 74 years, Robert; her son, Larry, her daughter-in-law, Jean; grandson, Tyler of Los Alamos; her big brother, Bob "Bingo" Blevins of Wyoming, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her caring heart and generous nature. Virginia will be laid to rest in the columbarium at the United Church at a private committal service prior to the memorial service. The family of Virginia Marr wishes to thank the loving, hardworking and dedicated staff at Aspen Ridge Lodge Assisted Living. A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, January 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church in Los Alamos.
