REDMAN, LOYD WILSON COMMAND SGT MAJOR, USA, (RET.) COMMAND SGT. MAJOR LOYD WILSON REDMAN, USA, (Ret.) Age, 91, a resident of Edgewood for the past four years, died Monday, January 5, 2015. He is survived by his children, Joseph Redman and wife, Janet of Satin, TX, and Kathy Cunningham and husband, Jim of Edgewood, NM; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Avis Burright of Houston, TX; and numerous other relatives and friends. Loyd was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia in 2008. He was born in 1923 in Enid, OK and grew up in Helena, OK. Loyd graduated from Helena High School and then attended Oklahoma A & M where he served in the ROTC. When WWII began he entered the United States Army where he proudly served for 27 years, retiring in January of 1969. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart which he received for wounds received during the Battle of the Bulge. After his retirement Loyd worked at UNM in the Instructional Media Department before transferring to TVI where he taught electronics and computer programming. Loyd's grandchildren were the loves of his life. He was a member of the Cedar Crest/Zuzax Church of Christ.Loyd was a dedicated, loving father, grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends may visit on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Graveside Services will be held Monday, January 12, 2015, 9:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Loyd's name to Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, 5700 Winter Haven Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120.
