EDWARDS, KENNETH R. "DICK" 94, born in Ft. Sumner, NM on May 30, 1920 to Raleigh and Frona Hunter Edwards, passed away December 29, 2014 in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Bracey Edwards; two sons, Kenneth R. Edwards, Jr. (Vicki), and Thomas Phillip Edwards; one grandson, Shane Edwards; three step-grandchildren, Sharese Low, Jonathan Hall (Tansey), and Teri Simmons (Drew); seven step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and one brother, Brown Franklin Edwards (Kathy). He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Woodrow, Grover, Charles, Robert and Harold; three sisters, Edith Edwards, Dorothy Bass and Mary Ann Elkins. Kenneth attended NMSU until enlisting in the U.S. Navy SeaBees, where he spent three years in the Admiralty Islands. After his service, he worked in construction before working at Sandia National Laboratories for 35 years. His hobbies were wood-carving, leather-tooling and spending time at his cabin in the Pecos Mountains. Kenneth was a kind, gentle person who loved his family and was always there for them. He was also always willing to volunteer his time to friends and neighbors. He was a loyal friend, willing to help when needed. A Visitation will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
