Obituary for SILVA

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday December 07, 2014

SILVA, JOSE D. (LITTLE JOE) Jose Domingo Silva passed away in his home of over 50 years on Thursday, December 4, 2014. He was born in Old Albuquerque to Eugenio and Crescencia (Molina) Silva on Jun 28, 1933. He is survived by his children, Anna Silva (Manny), Joseph "Eugene" Silva (Mary), Abran "Bernie" Silva (Dee), John Silva, Diana Cordova (Joe), and James "JJ" Silva; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Edward, Marcella, and David; his boyhood best friend Dan Apodaca, and numerous close nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first love, Esther L. (Romero) Silva and just two months ago his love of 29 years, Elizabeth L. (Quintana) Silva, who he remarkably and lovingly cared for at home the last two years of her life; siblings Cecilia, Bernie, Pauline and Toni. Little Joe passed away on a fittingly rainy day - a day great for fishing. He loved to hunt, fish, go camping, cruise his '54 Willys, and tremendously enjoyed the many gatherings with family and friends. He was an active carpet layer for over 50 years and passed on his skills to many, whose generations of journeymen continue today. The family would like to thank the staff at UNM Hospital and most notably those at cardiac therapy, the heart failure clinic, and Dr. Stack and her staff for the care he received over the last 14 years, helping him to live a full and active life. Little Joe will be buried with Esther in a private ceremony at Fairview Memorial Park and his life will be celebrated at his annual Matanza at the family home on Saturday, December 20 at 2 p.m. As he would always say, "Don't worry about me - carry on, carry on folks!" We love you Dad - life won't be the same without you, but we will live our lives to the fullest just as you did. Go Fishing!
