BAKER, ROBERT PAUL "Bob" died Tuesday, October 28, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents: John Raymond Baker, Sr. and Mary Phelps Baker; and brother, John Raymond Baker, Jr. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlene Blissard Baker; son: Shefford Baker and wife Julie, and their children: Alexandra Baker and Dawson Baker; son: Kory Baker and wife Babbi, and their children: Beck Baker, Bay Baker, and Lake Baker; daughter: Shenda Baker and husband Jim Sterling, and their children: Auston Sterling and Kynwyn Sterling; daughter: Janine Cassidy and husband Steve, and their children: Annelise Cassidy and Breatta Cassidy; and sister-in-law, Carol McGinn. Bob was born 08/28/1931 in Laramie, Wyoming and attended Laramie High School and the University of Wyoming where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He enlisted in the Navy as an Ensign in 1956 where he served our country on active duty through 1958 and in the Navy Reserves until his retirement in 1987 as a Captain. Bob was the commander of the local reserve unit in Albuquerque for many years. He worked at Sandia Labs from 1953 until 1994 where he became a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff and served as a district officer for the local chapter of IEEE. He was involved with the Albuquerque Folk Festival and the Unitarian Church as a board member/ president and with their youth group, La Amikoj where he mentored more than 100 teenagers. He was a sailor, skier, runner, 4H leader, hiker, hunter, folk dancer (leading folk dance groups), rollerblader, and bicyclist who built his own house and cabin while raising his four children. The family would like to especially thank his caregivers: Cynthia and Becky, Comfort Keepers, Ambercare Hospice, and the staff of Casa Angelina. Bob's Life Celebration will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque located at 3701 Carlisle Blvd NE 87110.
