MARTIN, STANLEY RICHARD Age 68, a long time resident of Rio Rancho, passed away September 23, 2014 at home, surrounded by family after an eight month battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, of 48 years, Yvonne Martin of Albuquerque; children Laura Mathis and husband Phillip Mathis of Boiling Springs, SC, Stanley Martin Jr of Albuquerque, NM., Larry Martin and wife Donann Martin of Rio Rancho, NM, DeAnna Judin and husband Michael Judin of Kodiak, AK, and Joseph Martin of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Tiffany Bryant and husband Stewart of Charleston, SC, Andrew Mathis of Boiling Springs, SC, James and Matthew Martin of San Antonio, TX, Michelle, Calvin, and Breanna Martin of Rio Rancho, NM, Kaytlen and Joshua Judin of Kodiak, AK; brother David Martin and wife Kathy Martin of Olympia, WA; sisters Sandra Gardner of Oregon, and Marilyn Vance of OR; nephews Carl Gardner of OR, David Martin of WA, Chip Vance of OR, Johnny Vance of OR; nieces Courtney Gore of WA, Melissa Forrest of WA, Angela Jones of WA, Carmen of OR, Jodi of OR, and all of their family members, and many other extended family members. Stan was preceded in death by his sister Jaqueline Jones of WA, his parents Wayne and Edna Martin of WA, and nephew Kevin Vance of OR. Born in Portland, OR he was raised close to the water in both Oregon and Washington. He loved the scenic coast of the Pacific NW and the salty smell of the beaches along that coastal stretch. Stan proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years. He started his lifelong career as a seaman and worked his way through the ranks retiring as LCDR in 1993. Returning to his wife's hometown of Albuquerque he began a second career in contracting. A job he enjoyed almost up to the end. He was very active with Mirador until he retired due to his illness two weeks before his passing. He was also a member of the Masons. Mass will be celebrated at Saint Therese, 3424 Fourth Street NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107 on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 10 a.m. He will be put to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
