Obituary for BRAND

BRAND, CARL E. Carl E. Brand, husband, father and grandfather, age 83, passed away peacefully with family and close friends by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 56 years, Loretta; daughter, Melissa Sanchez and husband, Esteban; grandsons, Steven Sanchez and Ethan Sanchez; sisters, Carolyn Gleisberg, and Henrietta Mueller and husband Carl; nieces and nephews, David Gleisberg, Kristine Gleisberg, Steven Mueller and wife Michelle, and Kristen Mueller, along with extended family members and friends. Carl was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Edward Brand and Karla Biesemeier on June 13, 1931. Following high school, he proudly served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After his time in the service, Carl met Loretta on a blind date and they were soon married. They moved to Albuquerque in 1959 and built a life and raised a family. Carl received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of New Mexico and worked for Albuquerque Public Schools as a physical education and classroom teacher for 25 years. He was passionate about eating healthy, exercising, playing handball/ racquetball, and early morning bike rides. In his free time, he and his family would travel in their campers and explore new places. Friends may visit FRENCH - University on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 Alvarado DR. SE, 87108. Carl will be laid to rest on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
