Obituary for ADAM

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday September 19, 2014

ADAM, RICHARD E. A wonderful, imaginative, gentle man has died. Richard E. Adam (1943 - 2014) left us in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Originally from Port Washington, Wisconsin, he chose to live in NM and so loved the vistas, rocks, and ambiance. Richard's creative skills included photography, woodworking, jewelry-making, gardening, and over-all handy guy. His sincerity, honesty, kindness, and sense of humor will be greatly missed. He had a four-plus year stint with the U.S. Navy (Vietnam); a 20-plus year career as a personal lines insurance agent; and a twenty year career in the self storage business. He was a Green Bay Packers fan, traveled to and appreciated Mexico and its culture, and would have greatly enjoyed that trip to Spain. He is survived by his wife Barbara; sister Sally (Jim, Jimmy, Charlie); brother Robert (Cheryl, Martin, Jeffrey); mother-in-law June; sister-in-law Nancy; brother-in-law David (Stephanie, Jennifer, Colin); sister-in-law Kay (Terry, Jason, Greg, Steven); and numerous other extended family members and friends (especially John and Terry & Chuck). He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Joan, and by his father-in-law Owen. Richard will be honored with a Celebration of Life reception in November in Albuquerque. Please contact adamRBNM@comcast.net if you wish to be included. Plan to share your memories. Thank you to the extraordinary, caring people at the VA in Albuquerque for the assistance provided to Richard all these years. Thank you also to Gentiva Hospice and Direct Funeral Services. A donation in Richard's name could be given to any animal welfare organization. He had five large-breed dogs in his life, all of whom were special to him. We will mourn your death each in our own way. God bless you. Until we are together again.
