 GARCIA, JOSE "PAUL" Jose "Paul" Garcia, age 78, resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico died quietly at his home in the Torreon neighborhood surrounded by his four daughters on August 26, 2014. Jose was born in Rowe, New Mexico on May 20, 1936. Jose referred to Rowe as "The Cultural Center of the Universe." Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Roman Garcia and Sofia H. Garcia, two siblings, Julian Garcia and Johnny Garcia. Jose is survived by his Aunt Angie Vigil; siblings Albert (Ersenia) Herrera, Viola Garcia Serrano, Jenifer Garcia DeVolder, Roman Garcia Jr., Amelia (Tony) Lucero and Vina (Les) Thill; and his friend and mother to his children, Antonia Nuanes Pineda. Jose is survived by his daughters, Bernadette Garcia-Roger (Genne Roger), Sophie Garcia Bettendorf (Robert Bettendorf), Patricia Garcia and Margaret Garcia de Duran (Bronson Duran). Jose is survived by grandchildren Vynnette Garcia-Peevy (Rick Peevy), Danielle Roger Eastman (Travis Eastman), Leonardo Rodriguez, Justin Bettendorf (Ashley Bettendorf), Tatianna Duran, Bronson Duran and Sevilla Duran. Jose is also survived by great-grandchildren Keeli Peevy, Ava Bettendorf, Tyler Peevy, Aiden Eastman, Robert Coley, Samantha Peevy, Xavier Eastman and Aubrey Bettendorf. Jose's seven grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and his eight great-grandchildren as honorary pallbearers. Visitation is Wednesday, September 3, 2014, 5-7 p.m. at Rosario Chapel. Rosary follows at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Thursday, September 4, 2014 10:00 a.m. at The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. Burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. Santa Fe National Cemetery.
