Obituary for DAVIDSON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday July 30, 2014

DAVIDSON, SOPHIA GENEVA (GENE) (1925-2014) Sophia Geneva (Gene) Davidson passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014. She was the daughter of George and Ruby Croft. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, she moved to Manhattan, Kansas after marrying Loren Irving Davidson (Dave) on November 6, 1943. She raised her only child, Toni, in Manhattan and opened a licensed Day Care Center in her home so she could be a stay-at-home Mom. Gene soon gained a reputation as the most desirable place for parents to leave their children while they worked and always had a waiting list. In 1971 she cut back from seven children to five so she could help take care of her granddaughter, Tamara, while Toni worked. Gene and Dave retired and moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1991 to be close to Toni and then followed her back to Albuquerque in 2006. Gene is survived and was adored by her daughter, Toni Fleisher and son-in-law Mark; her granddaughter, Tamara Selimovic and husband Alan; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Payton, and Jaxson Selimovic who loved their Great Grandma so much; sister, Lucille Oxley and husband Ed; niece, Sonja Hill and her two children Breanna Corpus Borce and Shayna Rians; nephews, Kenny (and Linda), Eddie (and Maria), and Michael Oxley; the wonderful caregivers who helped made her life easier over the past five years, and her precious dog Oreo. We all will miss her so. She was always generous, kind-hearted, loving, and filled with positive thoughts and encouragement for those around her. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014, 5:30 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming.
