Obituary for SANTISTEVAN

SANTISTEVAN, MARK AMBROSE 28 March 1957 - 13 July 2014 Beloved father, brother, son; Mark Ambrose Santistevan. He was born in Springer, NM to Dorothe and Pete Santistevan, slightly premature, but a fighter, and he left this life the same way: prematurely, but demonstrating all the strengths that he was endowed with. He excelled in math and science and had a keen sense of observation and intellect. Always active in his own education, he continued to pursue his passion of physics throughout his life. Mark served honorably in the US Army from 1975 - 1978, and then graduated with honors from NM Highlands in 1982 with a double major in Math and Physics. He was a talented jeweler and woodcarver as well, who employed mathematically precise geometries to create beautiful furniture and religious artwork. His work is on display at Sangre de Cristo church in Peralta, NM, and at the Mntez Gallery in Truchas, NM He is survived by his first wife, Robin Caldwell; second wife, Ellen Santistevan; and all his children: Lauren, and husband Ryan, Janis, John, Margareta, Dorothe and fiance Dan, and Mark Jesus; grandchildren Phillip Martinez, Miguel and Liana Fernandez; father Pete Santistevan Sr.; siblings Peter, Anna and husband Paul LeFebre, Ellen and husband LeRoy Salazar, Patrick and wife Judy, and Matthew and wife Brigette; sister-in-law Christina Santistevan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Paul, Michael, and Myron, and sister Patricia. A private family celebration of Mark's life will be held at a future date.
