TAPIA, EVANGELINE M. Age 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, went to the Lord on Friday, July 11, 2014. She is survived by her son Louie, spouse Patricia, and daughter Marcia; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister Susan Vigil; and many nieces, and nephews. Evangeline was preceded in death by her husband William; son Bill and daughter Alma Jean. Born in Wagon Mound, NM to Antonio Stein and Albinita Romero. During World War II, she worked as a Harvey Girl providing meals for the soldiers riding the trains, and later went to San Francisco and worked as a welder in the manufacture of ships. She was owner of Wave-Rite Beauty Salon where she worked as a beautician. In her retirement years she enjoyed ceramics, painting, and exercise classes at the Highland Senior Center; then became an instructor of a ceramics class. Her strong faith led her to join the society of Our Lady of the Roses. Rosary will be recited Monday, July 21, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
