Obituary for MADDOX

MADDOX, RENA MARGARET was born January 1, 1930. After a prolonged illness, Rena Maddox passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Rena was preceded in death by her beloved fiance, Alan Stroh; her father, Frederick W. Maddox; her mother, Dorothy Frazee Maddox; her sister Priscilla Maddox Stinebaugh, brother-in-law William Stinebaugh and nephew Mark Maddox. She is survived by her brother Paul Maddox and his wife Joyce of Florida; niece Lauren Rascona and her husband Michael and their sons Phillip and Thomas of New York; her best friend, Muriel Reeke of Ontario, Canada and her nieces Elizabeth (Jodi) Stinebaugh and Mary McCorvy and her husband Charles of Albuquerque. Known for a quirky sense of humor, imagination and creative needlework, she was a loyal friend as well as a consummate professional in her field. She had a long and distinguished career in psychiatric nursing which included professorships at both the University of Maine as well as Rhode Island College where she also served as department chair. Our family would like to extend our profound gratitude to her dear friends, especially those from St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church, along with caregivers and staff at Brookdale Assisted Living; Chaplain Mary Catherine, staff and doctors of Presbyterian Hospital and Anna Kaseman Hospital for their kindness and care in her final health crises. You all met and exceeded her high standards! Moreover, we wish to thank her remarkable and dedicated primary care doctor, Dr. Phillip Jameson, as well as her hematologist Dr. Barbara McAneny and cardiologist, Dr. Jerome Yaskowitz who gave her careful and kind treatment throughout the years. After cremation, her remains will be interred in the family plot at Forest Hills cemetery, Jamaica Plains, MA. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW. ABQ., 505-343-8008.
