BALLEJOS, GILBERTO CHAVEZ Gilberto Chavez Ballejos Age 78, was born in Abo, New Mexico on July 14, 1935 to Crucita Chavez Ballejos and Pablo Sisneros Ballejos. Gilbert graduated from Mountainair High School in 1953 as class president, Carnival King and was voted "Most Likely To Succeed." Gilbert served in the U.S. Army, he volunteered for and graduated from "Jump School" at Fort Campbell, KY; he then served as a qualified paratrooper with the 11th Airborne division stationed in Augsburg, Germany. Gilbert received his Masters degree from the University of Albuquerque. Throughout his life, Gilbert was a devoted educator and political activist. His grandchildren will remember him as their "most focused math teacher." He died of natural causes at his home in Albuquerque on Friday, June 13th. He is survived by his sons Monte Smith Ballejos and Elfego Emiliano Ballejos; grandchildren Isabella and Aristeo; brothers George Chavez and Federico Ballejos; and nephew Pablo Ballejos.
