Obituary for TORRES

TORRES, DANIEL M. Age 62, beloved father, husband, son, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, was embraced by the Lord and taken to Eternal Life on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Jeanette J. Torres; father, Tino Torres; sister, Marietta Sais; in-laws, Charlie and Corrine Harrison; and sister-in-law, Virginia Harrison. He is survived by his loving daughter, Kimberly Woo, husband, Sam Woo; grandson, Noah, and baby Woo; his loving son, Kevin Torres; mother, Alice Olona Torres; brother, Paul Torres; sister, Lucille Giddings and husband, Charles Giddings; sister, Juli Velasco and husband, Bobby Velasco; sister-in-law, Loretta Gurule; brother-in-law, Al Gurule; many nieces and nephews; cousins; special relatives: uncle, Eugene and wife, Armida Torres; aunt, Theresa Garcia; uncle, Orlando and wife, Melba Olona; and many other family and friends. Daniel attended Valley High School and graduated in 1969. He honorably served his country as a United States Marine. He retired from American Airlines. Daniel loved his family, music, the Beatles and Elvis, dancing and karaoke. He was a Laker and Raider fan. Daniel loved talking politics, was great at making a good deal, as well as the joker of the family who always had a wonderful story to share. He always thought of others before himself, very giving and always loved a good laugh. He will forever be remembered for his warm and loving heart of gold and smile that touched everyone. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, June 1, 2014, 5:00 p.m., at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 300 Mildred Ave. NW. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 2, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chucky Giddings, Cruz Baca, Avery Gurule, AB Montoya, Manuel Perea, Vernon Dinelli, Gerald Olona and Gabe Maldonado. Honorary Pallbearers are Max Contreras and Stephan Sais. Reception will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 3301 Mountain Rd NW, 87104. Thank you to MaryLou and other Hospice staff for the extraordinary care given to my dad.
