Obituary for RICHARDSON

RICHARDSON, EDGAR "ED" FRANCIS Age 88, a resident of Albuquerque for 59 years, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 30, 2014 after a lengthy illness with pulmonary fibrosis. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances Richardson of Rio Rancho, NM; children Joan Castillo and husband, Rick of Albuquerque, Steven Richardson and wife, Gayle of Overgaard, AZ, and Ron Richardson and wife, Regina of Rio Rancho; five grandchildren, Jacob Castillo, Ryianna Miller and husband, Joe, Ryan Richardson, Timothy Richardson, and Samuel Richardson; and numerous other relatives and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Opal and Homer Richardson; one grandson Joey Castillo; one sister, Alice Hostetler; and best lifelong friends, Bill Gates and wife, Jackie. He was born in Decatur, IL in 1925 and moved to Florida with his family at a young age. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served during WWII. Upon discharge he attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Physics. He married Frances Boucher on August 31, 1948 and they moved to Albuquerque in 1955. Ed worked for Sandia Labs for 30 years until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed travelling and taught NRA hunter safety for youth. His family was the most important thing in Ed's life. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his Life will be held on Wednesday, June 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Dr NE.
