Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday May 28, 2014

COOK, WILLIAMINA FRANCES "BILLIE" passed away peacefully in Cayuga Medical Center Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the age of 83. Born April 21, 1931 in Greenfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Dr. E. Erskine and Marion Fraser Harvey. After graduation from Greenfield High School in Massachusetts, Billie attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Home Economics. After teaching for a few years in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Billie married her eternal companion, William August "Bill" Cook, on June 16, 1956. Together they shared almost 53 years before Bill's passing in 2009. Billie's genuine smile, infectious laughter and heart-felt conversation immediately blessed all she came in contact with. Billie loved meeting new people, animals, nature, and seeing the beautiful sights of this great country. She particularly enjoyed the camaraderie of her Island Fitness aquatics class, Hospicare bereavement support group, and church Bible study groups. Billie is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Jim) Blair of Lansing, NY, Jacqueline (Peter) Greaney of Columbia, MD, and Beth Cook of Burlington, VT; a son, Charles (Julie) Cook of Monument, CO; grandchildren Marie and Amy Greaney; Billy, Charlie, Emily and Danny Cook; and James and Carly Blair. Those wishing to remember Billie may contribute to: Hospicare, 172 East King Road, Ithaca, New York 14850 or United Methodist Committee on Relief, Advance GCFA, P.O. Box 9068, New York, New York 10087-9068. In keeping with Billie's wishes, no services have been scheduled. The family was assisted by the compassionate caregivers at Cayuga Medical Center and Lansing Funeral Home.
