ESCARCIDA, WILLIE G. On May 10, 2014 Willie G. Escarcida at age 90, passed away at home, with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances; daughters, Elayne and husband, Abraham Penner; Sandy and husband, Dana Army; grandson, Dylan Army and wife, Jamie; his precious great-granddaughter, Mailin. He is also survived by his sisters, Rose and Betty; half-brothers, Juan, Andrew and Eufracio Escarcida. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as many wonderful friends. Willie was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeannie; parents, Onofre and Hipolito Escarcida; brothers, Eloy and Gilbert. Willie served in World War II in the US Army and was wounded in action. He received the Purple Heart as well as several other medals. He was a great soldier, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He served on many different committees and organizations in the state, county, and in Placitas, where he was born, lived all his life, and loved very much. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 am, on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church, 7 Paseo De San Antonio Rd, Placitas, NM, 87043.
