ALPERT, SEYMOUR SAMUEL Professor Seymour "Si" Samuel Alpert, 83, passed away on Tuesday March 11th in Albuquerque, New Mexico after complications from surgery. Seymour was born December 21, 1930 in Amsterdam, New York, the son of Irving and Anna Alpert. After graduating from Dorsey High in Los Angeles, Seymour enrolled in UCLA as a premed student. After his first year in medical school he decided to pursue physics and did one year ('53-'54) at UC Berkeley, before being drafted. He spent the next two years in the Army Medical Corps. After doing post-doctoral work at Bell Labs and Columbia University, he joined UNM ('66), where he spent the rest of his career as a Professor and researcher.
