STURTCMAN, RUSS Age 61, passed away early Monday morning, February 24th. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Shirley Sturtcman; his daughters, Michele Hicks and Krista Mireles; his son, Jose Mireles; his grandsons, Lucas Lucero, Daniel Mireles and Rylan Hicks; his loving sister-in-law, Gloria Candelaria; and brother-in-law, Byron Congleton. His brother, Bob; wife, Edna; and nephew, Robb Sturtcman of Taos, NM will miss him dearly. Russ had just lost his beautiful Mother, Lupe Sturtcman in 2013. Lupe and Harry Sturtcman raised Russ to be the musical, witty teacher that he was. He also leaves behind many loving cousins, aunts, and uncles who watched him grow into the amazing man he was. In 2012 Russ was able to find and reconnect with his biological twin sister, Sherry Correa, and her beautiful, loving family. They received him with such open arms, completing a chapter in his life and answering many unspoken questions that had lingered in his heart for years. This gave him such happiness and closure. It also opened doors for him to meet his brothers, Leroy Dimas, Duane Dimas, David Dimas, and Benny Dimas; and his sister, Nova Dimas and Donna Welty and their wonderful families as well. This brought a great deal of happiness to Russ. Russ was an Air Force Veteran and a retired teacher of 32 years. He committed himself to teaching the youth and helping rehabilitate many children in our community for years. He loved his sports - Go Cowboys!! He enjoyed golf, coached wrestling, and played as well as competed professionally in tennis. He will be remembered for his love of music, as he mastered the drums, and played in his brother, Bob's band as a young musician in the 60's - the Kreegs rocked!!!
