GOMEZ, WILFRED Former Santa Rosa native, Wilfred Gomez passed away peacefully on Monday, February, 3rd, at his home in Albuquerque surrounded by his loved ones. Wilfred was born on April 30, 1940 to the home of Guadalupe and Rosa (Garcia) Gomez. He attended Santa Rosa Schools graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1957. He retired from the State of New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division where he served as Manager of the Albuquerque Field Office for 30 years. He enjoyed getting together with his brothers to play their guitars. He was preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe and Rosa Gomez. Survivors include his children Rosalie Gomez, Dwane Gomez, Janel Buonomo (Frank), David Gomez (Jane), Michelle DeHerrera (Mike), Tony Gomez (Valerie) and Eric Gomez (Sheri); along with 13 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters Fred Gomez and wife Pita, Chris Gomez, Alfonso Gomez, Gilbert Gomez and wife Fabby, Richard Gomez and wife Jeannie, Georgia Gomez, Deborah Gomez-Lopez and husband George, Danny Gomez and wife Cindy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friend. Rosary services will be held on Wednesday, February 5, at 6:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 6, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Thomas Officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Raul Chavez, Nathaniel Baca, Jonathan Gomez, Francisco Lovato, Steve Watson, Tony Romero, Jimmy Barela and Gerald Rivera.
