ACOSTA, YOLANDA Funeral services for Yolanda Acosta, 58, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 AM, Sat., Jan. 25, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Portales. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery. Yolanda Acosta was born April 22, 1955 in Brownfield, TX to the home of Conchita and Juan B. Acosta and died Jan. 21, 2014 in Clovis, NM. She was a 1973 graduate of Elida High School. In 1988, Ms. Acosta moved to Albuquerque, where she was employed by the Department of Labor as a job placement representative. She retired in Nov. of 2013 due to health conditions. Yolanda was very active in the Republican Party in New Mexico, and had worked in the Governor's Office for a time. She is survived by her son, Brandon Montoya of Portales; a daughter, Leah Montoya and her partner, Viviana Holguin of Roswell; three grandchildren, Talina and Taji Holguin and Josiah Montoya; her mother, Conchita Acosta of Portales; a brother, Juan Acosta, Jr. of Juarez, Mexico; a sister, Carol Acosta Flores of Portales; and her sister-in-God, Sandra Mirabal of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her father, Juan Acosta in 1986, a brother, Oscar Acosta in 2006 and two nieces, Kimberly Aragon-Nunez and Danisten Fay Nunez.
