ANGEL, RAYMUNDO "RAY" JR. Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it. When I think of that it is how I will remember, Raymundo "Ray" Angel, 94, of Las Vegas, NM who died on Saturday, November 30, 2013. He is survived by Joanne E. Angel; daughter, Naina and Dairus Panthaki; grandchildren, and great-granddaughter Layla Marie Panthaki. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy McElroy Angel (2011), son Robert Angel (2008), and parents Reymundo and Lina C de Baca-Angel. Ray was a lifelong resident who felt he was blessed with good friends who kept him active and helped out tirelessly. He is best remembered as the AST for the National Guard, and a Pearl Harbor survivor. Many of his troopers remained a constant source of friendship and care throughout his life. In addition to his troopers, he loved the attention and friendship of Barbara Venturi, Rosina Romero, and Katherine "Kat Kugler. He was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church, B. P. O. Elks Lodge 408, the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, and VFW Post #1547. A rosary will be recited Thursday evening, December 5, at 7:00 p.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church. Prior to the rosary on December 5, friends will gather from 4:30 to 6:30 for a potluck at the Elks Lodge on Collins Drive. Please contact Barbara Venturi and 1-505-429-1035. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., also at the Immaculate Conception Church.
