Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday December 01, 2013

FINNEY, BRIAN "BUDDY" Brian "Buddy" Wayne Finney, 55, Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at his home on November 7, 2013 with his loving family at his side. He had been waging an optimistic and valiant battle with lung cancer for the past year. "Buddy" was born March 7, 1958 in Hallock, Minnesota to Lorraine and Harold Finney of rural St. Vincent, Minnesota. Buddy graduated from the Humboldt- St. Vincent High School in 1976 and attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota after which he returned to the Humboldt area and began to farm with his Dad. In 1984 he moved to Rogers, Arkansas where he was employed with the Steve Chastain Company. In the spring of 2001, Buddy relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was employed in the marketing department of AECOM, an engineering firm for a number of years and most recently with Bohannan Huston, Inc. as a proposal manager in the marketing division of the civil engineering firm for nearly two years until his diagnosis in November 2012. Buddy was a very creative and witty individual who had an innate ability to entertain and amuse people. He was a very easy going, gentle and kind-hearted man who loved to paint pictures, work in his yard, tend to all his furry children (dogs, cats, hamsters) and 'fix' things. He seemed to always be working on a project, learning to play a new instrument, working on word puzzles, reading and baking his 'sweets.' Buddy will always be missed by his many friends and his family. Buddy is survived by wife, Justine Judway; his step-daughter, Abigail Judway; sisters, Susan (Leland) Sele, Crookston, Minnesota and Kathleen (Myron) Nielsen, El Cajon, California; brother-in-law, Ted Kochevar, Duluth, MInnesota; nieces Paula Kochevar Obrigewitch, San Diego, CA, Michelle Sele Walker, Bismarck, North Dakota, Prentice Sele, Fargo, North Dakota and his nephew Jim Sele, Rochester, Minnesota. Buddy was preceded in death by oldest sister, Eileen Kochevar & his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held in Buddy's honor at his home in Albuquerque on February 7th, 2014 at 6PM. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his memory to The American Cancer Society, The American Lung Association, The Children's Cancer Fund of New Mexico or your local Cancer Society. "Habibi, you will always and forever be with me, and I with you. I love you."
