MALOOF MCGRATH, CORA ELISIA Age 91, a lifelong New Mexican, died in Albuquerque, November 16, 2013. Cora is survived by daughters Wardie Hennessy and husband Jim, Zian Swanson and husband George, of Albuquerque and son, George O. Maloof, Jr. and wife Ellavern of Santa Fe; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren in NM, CA, TX, IL and WA; sisters Helen Partridge of CA and Mary Antonelli of VA; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George O. Maloof, Sr.; parents Tom & Guadalupe McGrath; sisters Anna Gutierrez, Della Sanchez and Dolores Beach and brother Tom McGrath Jr. She was a Navy Wave during WWII, a member of the DAV and the American Legion. She taught Special Ed in the West Las Vegas Schools and Albuquerque Public Schools. She graduated from Highlands University with an MA and earned her PhD in Education at UNM. She was recognized in Who's Who of Women of the American West and Who's Who of the World along with many other honors and achievements. In retirement, she loved to make and sell crafts. She was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church. Visitation will held be on December 8, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Mass will be celebrated at December 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at John the XXIII Catholic Church, 4831 Tramway Ridge DR. NE. A luncheon will follow at Shepard Lutheran Church, 3900 Wyoming Blvd. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
