Obituary for UNDERWOOD

UNDERWOOD, W. R. "DUB" age 101, of Albuquerque, died Friday, November 22, 2013. He is survived by wife of nearly 79 years, Sibyl Underwood; sister, Elizabeth McAnelly; six nephews and two nieces. Dub was a retired consulting engineer and general contractor; retired Capt, US Naval Reserve, having served during WWII. He was a former board member of the NM Boy's Ranch from 1950 to 1971; president of NM Chapter of the Associated General Contractors in 1958; Chairman of the Albuquerque Chapter of the NM Professional Engineers in 1947; member of the City of Albuquerque Building Dept. boards 1950-1962; Planning Commission 1952-1963; member of Local Masonic Bodies; Deacon in Highland Baptist Church since 1975; member of Albuquerque Country Club and avid golfer up until last year at 100 years of age; Active in Albuquerque construction since 1937. Dub was a pilot and flew to his various building project during those years of contracting. He was a very caring man with high integrity, and a friend of all who came in contact with him. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, at 2:00 pm, at Chester T. French Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Pastor John Embry officiating. Entombment will take follow.
