KIMBALL, GARY LEE Gary, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, departed this world on Monday, September 9, 2013. He was 54 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Milton Kimball and Evelyn June Kimball. Gary leaves behind his long time love, Linda Zukowski, of Albuquerque; sisters, Carol Nizzi and Johnny Sanchez, Sheryl Jones and husband, Gary, Diane Silva and husband, Mark and brother Robert Kimball and wife, Laura; along with several nieces and nephews. Gary graduated from Del Norte high school in 1977, and then enlisted in the Navy in 1979. He attended school in Memphis, TN, obtaining his ASM certification. He then worked as an aviation structural mechanic in Kingsville, TX. After serving his country, he returned to his beloved Albuquerque and resumed responsibility of taking care if his mother. In addition, he worked on fixing cars and was known as the neighborhood mechanic. Gary was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He was always willing to lend a hand to his friends and neighbors and was always very caring and compassionate. He would wave to his neighbors who would pass by his house and say a kind word or give them a flower. Gary often said "I believe that my purpose here on earth is to listen to my friends problems, and give them good advice." Gary treasured his many friendships. Besides working on cars, Gary's interests included playing backgammon, billiards, attending classic car shows, digging for buried artifacts, and recycling whatever he could. He genuinely cared about the environment. In addition, he also enjoyed visiting Altura Park and hidden (McDuffy Park). Many thanks go to the staff at the Hospice of Sandia's, who assisted during Gary's final days.
