Obituary for RIGGINS

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday August 13, 2013

RIGGINS, ELIZABETH (BETH) Age 79, stepped into the waiting arms of her Lord peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 10, 2013. She taught many, through the way she lived her life, that ministry is who you are as a Christ follower living life fully to God's glory and not just something you do. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Beth was born in Quincy, MO in 1934 and graduated from high school in Hermitage, MO in 1952. She lived and worked in Kansas City, MO until she married Glenn Riggins in 1956 when they moved to Albuquerque, NM where she raised her family. Beth was a charter member of Sandia Baptist Church since 1959 where she worked with women, students, and adults. After her family, her passion was mentoring and guiding college students and single adults through the International Wives Program, the Baptist Student Center at UNM, and her church. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Glenn Riggins; daughter, Debbie Gleason and husband, John of Texas; son, Mike Riggins and wife, Teresa of Georgia; four grandchildren, Andrea Begay and husband, Nathaniel of Albuquerque; Aimee Shelton and husband, David of Texas; Heather Riggins of Virginia; Mark Riggins of Georgia; four great-grandchildren, Dakota and Colier Begay of Albuquerque; Camille and Travis Robinson of Colorado; as well as many other family and friends. Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave. Friends may visit FRENCH - Lomas, Wednesday, August 14, 2013, 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Adult Building Program at Sandia Baptist Church.
