CRAVENS, MILLER NELSON JR. Miller "Dusty" Nelson Cravens, Jr. passed away Monday, June 3, 2013. Dusty was born in Kansa City, Missouri on December 5, 1930, to Frances and Miller Cravens, Sr. He met his future wife, Mary Culver while attending the Kansas City Art Institute. He served four years in the Navy during the Korean War. While stationed in Hawaii, he married the love of his life, Mary and they lived there for three years. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, they returned to Missouri and Dusty graduated from Missouri University in 1957 with a degree on Electrical Engineering. He was recruited by Sandia National Laboratories, where he enjoyed a successful career and retired in 1994 after 37 years. Dusty was a well-known member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Local Ring 90. He was an avid collector of magic books and posters, also volunteered his time to teach magic to young people. Dusty was a devoted husband, father, son and grandfather and was dearly loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Mary; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Don Matheson; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Brad Freese and two grandchildren Laura Matheson and Matthew Freese.
