Obituary for MARZ

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday May 26, 2013

MARZ, PEARL At age 87, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed peacefully from life on May 7, 2013, joining her husband of more than sixty years, Gayle Marz. Whether preparing a prizewinning meal, creating heirloom quilts, crafting handmade Christmas ornaments, interior decorating, or collecting unique antiques, Perli's artistic talents fill our homes and hearts. Her grandchildren Troy Rush, Devon and Keaton Mullis, Alexandra Smith, Allison and Hannah Freedman, Allison Harris and her great-grandchildren Anastasia and Josephine Smith brought her great joy. She also loved entertaining, cracking jokes, telling stories, especially about being the youngest of ten children, reciting Shakespeare and teaching everyone the Charleston. Perli and Gayle developed lasting friendships through the FBI and as formidable players in their bridge clubs and spent many wonderful years traveling together in their RV and with their friends throughout the US, Mexico and Canada. Perli was known to invite strangers without family to Thanksgiving and served as a Meals On Wheels volunteer for years. Her hospitality and generosity will be remembered by all. A private family memorial celebration is being held in her honor.
