Obituary for PETERSON

PETERSON, WILFORD LEE Age 86, resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away from complications of an automobile accident on March 30, 2013, at UNM Hospital, surrounded by his family. Lee was born December 19, 1926, in Sanford, Colorado to Wilford and Jennie Peterson. Lee grew up in Sanford, Colorado, graduated from Sanford High School and later attended the Denver School of Business where he received an associate degree. He honorably served in the US Navy during World War II, where he was required to travel throughout the Orient. After the war ended Lee married Nona Douglas, of Alamosa, Colorado. Lee and Nona had three children. Lee had a successful business career with the US Fish and Wildlife which resulted in assignments in Washington DC, Boston, Massachusetts and finally retiring in Albuquerque, NM in 1985. Lee's second marriage was to Carol Anne Desiderio in 1990. During their 23 year marriage, they enjoyed traveling, often with his brothers and sisters, playing Bridge and Rook, family get togethers and watching sports. In his younger years, Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and golf. Lee was preceded in death by his mother and father, Wilford and Jennie Peterson; a brother Andrew Frank Peterson; two sisters, Olive Reed and Maxine Poulson; and great-granddaughter, Lacy Jayde Dyer. Lee is survived by his loving wife, Carol Peterson; his children, Harold Peterson, Connie Beckner and Shaun Peterson; his grandchildren, Jason, Scott, Brett, Ryan, Dewey, Kacey, Gil, Jennifer and Cory; his great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Lexie, Jett, Halle, Tessa, Kade, Lane, Landon, Slade, Abby, Grant, Koda and Nona Louise; his siblings, Jean Davis, Mary June Miller, David Peterson and Jennie Maybeth "Bonnie" Winters; his brothers-in-law, Roy Davis and Herman Miller; and sister-in-law, Donna Peterson.
