Obituary for MCCURLEY

MCCURLEY, CHRISTINE age 89, passed away on March 9, 2013 at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and friend. Born on August 29, 1923 in Walton County, Florida, Christine continuously had unconditional love and support for her family. Her parents and siblings preceded her in death. Survivors are her husband of 70 years, Gafford McCurley; their four children, Ron McCurley, Linda McCurley-Stafford and husband Tom Stafford, JoAnne McCurley and Dorothy McCurley. Her grandchildren are John Speranzo, Laura Summerlin, Kathy Lewis, Melanie Cayce, Josh and Chris Bratton, and Valerie Sorto; and her nine great-grandchildren. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, and they belonged to various clubs in Albuquerque and Elephant Butte for over 40 years. She participated in boy and girl scout activities when her children were young. Christine was a beautiful strong woman full of a love for life. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 14 at 9:30am at Crestview Baptist Church, 301 Chama NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will take place at 1:30pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Special Olympics or a charity of choice in her name.
