Obituary for JORDAN

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Saturday March 09, 2013

JORDAN, JEAN RENTZ longtime Albuquerque resident, passed away on March 5, 2013 in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 87. Widow of prominent Albuquerque orthopedic surgeon Dr. Irvine Jordan, who passed away in 2005. Jean is survived by her son Robert and her daughter Jennifer, both of Portland; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her son Douglas and daughter Ann preceded her in death. Born in Minneapolis, the daughter of one of American Airlines' original pilots, she obtained her RN at Charity Hospital in New Orleans where she met her husband, who was in the US Army Medical Corps and who later served in Korea then joined her and their first two children at a base in Japan. In 1956 he left the military and they settled in Albuquerque. Jean was a member of First Presbyterian and later Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Churches, enjoyed playing bridge and traveling, and was one of the most prolific and faithful of letter-writers - e-mail was not for her! She will be sorely missed. Donations may be made in her name to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch (www.theranches.org).
