 RICHARDSON, ARLENE (1922-2013) On Monday, February 11, 2013 Arlene Richardson in her 90th year embarked on her last cruise. She left from Memorial Medical Center due to complications from battling old age. She donated her body to the Texas Tech Medical School in Lubbock Texas. Arlene was a long time resident of Las Cruces (early 70's to present) after living in Albuquerque for over 40 years. Arlene was active and involved in community goings on until the very last. She was upset she missed Carousel and was hoping to attend Spamalot. A long time member of the MMC auxiliary, chair of the book cart during her active service and she attended their annual function this past November. Arlene enjoyed seeing fellow Auxilians who visited her during her stay. Arlene was a charter member of the Big Band Dance Club and a contributing member of the Garden Club. Arlene could be seen attending many local theater productions and concerts. Through the years Arlene was active in the stroke club in support of her daughter and husband, and involved in Transitions, the Solo club and PWOP. Arlene remained close to her sister Audrey Allen with whom she often spoke and wrote. Arlene and Audrey traveled together and visited each other, most recently attending the Glen Miller concert in Las Cruces last year and dancing at the weekly Big Band dance. Arlene departed this world with malice toward none and would want her friends to attend a play, concert or dance in lieu of flowers. Arlene was preceded in death by, the father of her children Clint Palmer; her loving husband Hersal Richardson; and her daughter Sharon Gesswein. Arlene is survived by her sister Audrey Allen of Spirit Lake Iowa; son Mike Palmer of Las Cruces; son-in-law Kyle Gesswein and his wife Dena Gesswein; granddaughter Chalice Young of Houston TX; grandson Mark Warner of Oakland CA and grandson Mike Warner in the wind.
