Obituary for FISHER

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday February 17, 2013

FISHER, LUCILE SHEAR Age 97, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. She was born October 21, 1915 in Waco, TX to Cecil C. Shear and Frances B. Douglass. She was a twin to Frances (Shear) Hart and had an older sister, Kathleen (Shear) Gilmore, and an older brother, James Shear. All predeceased her, as did her parents. Lucile attended TCU following a family move to Fort Worth, TX in 1933, during her senior year of high school. She worked in the Texas school system as a secretary and later in Washington DC in the Department of the Navy during WWII. It was there that she met her future husband, Warren Kenneth Fisher. They were married on April 26, 1942 in Fort Warden, WA, where he was stationed. He was medically discharged from the Army that same year and they came to Albuquerque, where they lived for 64 years until his death in 2006. She cared cheerfully for him during an extended illness and was a wonderful mother and loving grandmother. She will be remembered for her kind and thoughtful ways and for her beautiful smile; and she will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Lucile is survived by her daughter, Lucy (Fisher) Staples and her husband, David; her son, Ken Fisher and his wife, Dianne, all of Albuquerque; and by 12 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will be in Hillsdale, KS where her husband is interred. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Sandias who cared lovingly for her during her last weeks of life.
