CATING, MARY J. (STARR) AND HOWARD J. Mary J. (Starr) Cating 5-30-25 to 8-1-97 Howard J. Cating 10-26-19 to 2-3-13 Things My Parents Taught Me (some of which I'm still trying to learn): Be honest with yourself and others. Do a good job whether you're being paid for it or not. Plan for the future. Don't buy on credit. Respect yourself or no one else will. Respect others as you respect yourself. Help out where, when and how you can. Be grateful for what you have-things can always be worse. Never tolerate injustice of any kind, towards anyone. Don't worry about a thing-nuthin's gonna be alright! Take responsibility for your thoughts, words, actions and deeds. Be a loyal friend. Don't bother sticking with a book that doesn't grab you. Know how to take care of yourself. Have faith. You never know unless you "aks". Remember we're all in this together. Watch them other crazy drivers! Think for yourself. You learn more by listening than by talking. And last, but not least: Illegitimi non carborundum! Many thanks to the staff and residents of Bear Canyon Estates who helped care for and about my dad for the last two years-despite all his complaining, I know he was happy there. Special thanks and love to Miss Viola and Miss Edna-such good friends who fussed at and over my dad and accomplished something I was never able to-getting him to clean up his language.
