IFILL, OLIVER Oliver died on 2/10/13 peacefully as he slept. Oliver was born in Barbados, West Indies, April 14, 1944 and immigrated with his family to the US at age 9. He is survived by his wife Maria; his children Kimberly and Christina; his grandchildren Pierre, Dominique and Monay and great-granddaughter, Deiana; his brothers Rev. Earle Ifill; Roberto Ifill and his sisters Maria Philip and Gwen Ifill. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Dr. O. Urcille and Eleanor Ifill and his brother Richard. Oliver was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend to everyone. He married Maria in 1972; they lived in San Francisco and San Rafael for 25 years and moved to NM in 1999 to help care for his mother and father-in-law. He was an artist, gardener, fisherman and avid puzzle solver. After he retired in 1987 from the Social Security Administration he also became a wonderful chef. Oliver was most grateful and fortunate to receive a heart transplant in April 1995; this new heart extended his life almost eighteen years. He was curious about everything and never stopped learning about everything around him. He woke up every morning with a new conversation and went to bed discussing something new every night. He will be deeply missed by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, father-in-law, many loving sisters and brothers in -law, nieces and nephews and all his relatives and friends who knew and loved him. Oliver specifically asked that "there should be no funeral service after I am goneJust take a little time and think of all the things you did for me and be happy. Please remember that I am thankful for the time you spent with me and all those gifts I received from your heart and soul." In turn, we are also grateful for all the wonderful things Oliver did for all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed but his spirit will live on in our hearts. A celebration of his life will be held for his birthday in April. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Mexico Donor Services, 2715 Broadbent Parkway NE, Suite J, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
