SPENCER, BARBARA JEAN 81, of Colorado Springs went to be with our Lord on January 10th, 2013. A private memorial service will be held Sunday, 1/20/2013. She was born in Petaluma California on February 20th, 1931. She is the daughter of John Schalnus and Alvina Cheetham. Barbara graduated from Oakdale Union High School in Oakdale, California. She was married to James McCown Spencer on February 5th 1950 in Sacramento California. She raised 3 boys and was a stay at home mom. She is survived by her husband, James Spencer, children Randy, Jeffery married to Nadine, and Dennis married to Lorraine, and grandchildren Erica, Dorian, and Dylan, and sister, Linda Joseph of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Seaman. She was born and raised in Northern California and lived in Phoenix, Arizona, Albuquerque, New Mexico,and just recently moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Barbara was a big sports fan and her favorite team was the San Francisco Giants. She had a beautiful voice and she loved to sing on live radio & for weddings. She attended the World Series with her 2 favorite baseball teams, the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A's, but was interrupted by the Earthquake in 1989. Despite having a lot of arthritis pain for almost all of her life, she was a very caring, loving person, and she always had a smile. Her family wishes to thank all the people that influenced Barbara during her lifetime.
