Obituary for WOOD

WOOD, KENNETH E. Age 85, was born in Vandercook Lake, MI, on March 28, 1927. He died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. He came to Albuquerque in 1950 after serving 3 years in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was employed by Albuquerque National Bank for 14 years during which time he was instrumental in the apprehension of a bank robber and also worked with the police department on a process to prevent bad check losses. He received many letters of commendation from the FBI and community leaders. He left the banking industry in 1978 and established the Kenwood Insurance Agency until retirement in 1990. He is survived by his spouse, Lois B. Wood; children, William D. Brooks III and wife, Susan of Astoria, OR and Cynthia Mohler and husband, Tim of Albuquerque; grandchildren, William D. Brooks IV, Janelle Mohler and Benjamin Mohler, and great-granddaughter, Emma Mohler, and two brothers, George Wood and Richard Wood of Michigan. Mr. Wood was currently a member of the Roadrunner Chapter of the American Merchant Marine Veterans. Cremation has taken place, however, a Celebration Reception will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at FRENCH Westside Reception Center.
