Obituary for MAES

MAES, J.D. JR. Age 88, a resident of Trementina, NM and a former resident of Las Vegas, NM and Albuquerque, NM, died unexpectedly on December 17, 2012. He was born on March 11, 1924, in Maes, NM. He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel Maes; father, Jose Delfino Maes, Sr; mother, Maria Efren Maes; brothers, Frank, Gilbert; and sisters, Margaret Collins and Edwina Schubert. He is survived by his sons, Ralph Maes of Trementina, Chris D. Maes and wife, Dianne of Rio Rancho, and David P. Maes and special friend Diane Moore of Las Vegas; grandchildren Bryan Maes, Christian Maes, Maria Maes-McChriston, Myra Kershaw, Nicholas Maes, and Jonathan D. Maes. He is also survived by his brothers Antonio, Carlos, Leo and Mike; many nieces and nephews who were very special to him; and many other relatives also survive him. JD retired from the New Mexico State Police in 1979. He enjoyed ranching and tending to his animals. JD was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to many. JD will leave a tremendous void in our lives. He will be greatly missed. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 24, 2012. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45pm. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are the New Mexico State Police Honor Guard.
