BUNTING,JAMES SHENAN Age 85, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on October 9, 1927 of parents St. Elmo and Hilya Bunting in Detroit, Michigan. His youth through the depression of the 1930's and early 1940's was spent earning or trying to earn money to help a struggling family of seven. Shortly after Pearl Harbor, he tried to enlist in the Navy at age 14, but his parents would not consent. He tried again in 1945 and at seventeen he joined the Navy and was accepted in the pilot training program. After the war he pursued a career in purchasing and contract management and prior to retiring he spent 5 years in Spain for the Air Force, which he greatly enjoyed. After retirement, he volunteered at Presbyterian Hospital and New Mexico Senior Olympics. He was an active member at the Church of the Risen Savior where he was a Eucharistic Minister, greeter and usher. Throughout his life he enjoyed oil painting and drawing and was very talented, winning several awards for his artistic endeavors. Other activities he enjoyed included reading, listening to music, and dancing. He was blessed by having two brothers and two sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving son Patrick Bunting and his fiancee Stephanie Tucker; daughter Linda Bunting; daughter Lisa Bunting Baca; son-in-law Dan Baca; granddaughters: Hadley, Caitlin, and Alana; grandson Kevin; and close friend Helen Sedillo. Jim was cremated according to his wishes and his ashes will be buried at a later date. The family of James Bunting wants to thank his extended family at the Church of the Risen Savior and all his friends for their prayers and support. We are also extremely grateful for support, counsel, and care provided by the staff of Vista Care Hospice. Jim is profoundly missed by all those that knew him, especially his family and close friends. He was a kind, loving and thoughtful man who touched the lives of those who had the pleasure to know him. We love him very much and will miss him always, but we know he rests in eternal life in Heaven.
