Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Monday November 05, 2012

MURPHY, MARY FRANCES (6/20/20-9/7/12) Mary F. Murphy passed from this life to the green pastures beside still waters described in the 23rd Psalm on September 7, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Dennis (Pat) Murphy for 62 years before his passing in 2007. The Murphys quietly, anonymously, faithfully, supported children in diverse ways. Mary Frances' eyes lit up at the sight of any child. She encouraged, supported and prayed for every child of whom she was aware. Mary Frances grew up in Madison, Kansas during the Depression. She was the daughter of entrepreneur Aaron Sauder and his wife, a one-room school teacher named Bessie Wiggins Sauder. She graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in journalism and went on to work in Kansas City for the Hereford Journal. She also worked as a substitute teacher, and tutored in various cities where she and Pat lived. Mary Frances is survived by her daughters Pamela Paige Murphy-Young (and husband Mel) and Patty Smith (and husband Paul). She is also survived by her much-loved granddaughters Dakota Young Garves (and husband Eric) and Katherine Keili Young. She cherished the friendship and affection of a wide circle of people not mentioned here.
