Obituary for STEVENS

STEVENS, CONSTANCE GAY MILLER HALBE age 74, a lover of life who brought joy, laughter and thoughtful dialogue to everyone she met, has gone on to the next adventure. She left this life September 13th in her home. She was born October 3, 1937 in Columbus, OH. Connie received a bachelor's degree in graphic art from Ohio University. She took a job as AM program coordinator for the Athens, OH Public Radio WOUB where she was morning DJ, a studio instructor for radio students, and talk show host for "Live at Studio B" from 1979 to 2001. She was well known for her sultry voice and in-depth, revealing interviews. She was an active member of the Southwest Writers Association and the NM Watercolor Association and played Mahjong at Bear Canyon. Her novel, although engaging and thought provoking, remains unfinished. She produced many watercolor and oil paintings (under the name Cogai ) for friends and on commission About 20 remain in the estate. Remaining paintings will be on exhibit at her memorials both in Albuquerque, NM and Athens, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Stevens, Sr.; is survived by daughter Katherine Turner; son-in-law Thomas Turner; and grandchildren Alison and Joseph; stepsons Richard and Patrick Stevens; grandchildren Bethany, Victoria and Shannon Stevens; sister Joy Summers and her loving dog Dillon and cat Bojangles. Connie wrote in her journal to tell everyone "I had a great time." A memorial will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church on Saturday, 22 September at 10:00 am, with a reception at home of Katherine and Thomas Turner to follow.
