GILBERT 1930-2012 Age 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 28, surrounded by all his family. He was born in Seboyeta, New Mexico to Bonifacio Romero and Juanita Molina and raised by his Aunt Flora Molina. He was a veteran of the Korean War with the 8th Calvary, as a machine gunner, where he received the Korean Service Medal with one bronze service star. He was one of the members of the testing of the atomic bomb in Nevada. Gilbert worked at American Furniture for years and then began his own business in furniture repair, until he began working at UNM where he retired. He has since devoted his time to his wife and working and training horses until his health no longer allowed him to do so. He will always be loved and greatly missed. We love you Dad, Gil, Gilbert, Gibo, Grandpa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita; father, Bonifacio; aunt, Flora; brothers, Claudio, and Deluvino; sons, Gilbert, Jr., and Lawrence. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Carmen; sister, Avedonia; daughter, Corinne Romero-Davis; son, Steve Romero; step-daughters, Rosalie and husband Tom, Darlene and husband Dave, Cynthia and husband Edward; grandchildren, John Paul, Heather, Joslyn, Jessie, Dana, Joshua, Brittany, Joseph, and Michaela; along with thirteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 31, at 2:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave. Interment with military honors will be held on Wednesday, September 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to, Skyline Therapy, a horse riding group for special needs children, at PO Box 2225 Edgewood, NM 87015.
