Obituary for VIGIL

LLOYD J. (ELOY) age 92, passed away at his home, Friday, August 24, 2012. Lloyd was born November 30, 1919 in Raton, NM to Cesario Montes and Magdelina (Olivas) Vigil. As a young man, Lloyd moved to Albuquerque. With the exception of a brief period away during the war, Lloyd was a resident of Albuquerque his entire adult life. He was a graduate of Menaul High School and served in the US Army in WWII. He was a long time member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. He was a retired funeral director and embalmer and worked for Garcia Mortuary for many years. Lloyd, also known to some as, Eloy, enjoyed dining out and being outside-even when that included doing yard work. His biggest hobby, however, was being with his family. He loved his family and most of all; he liked being involved in their lives. Lloyd had a fun sense of humor and he always had nicknames for many in his family. Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Emily; three children, Carol Raymond of Northbrook, IL, Tobie Arnold and husband James of Mocksville, NC and Leonard Vigil and wife Christine of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Carrie Merner, Chrissy Cicuto, Christy Culpepper, Eli and Mason Vigil; six great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Alessia Cicuto, Aidan and Grant Merner, Masun and William Culpepper; two sisters, Christy Puncer and Bella Garcia; numerous nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Southern Chapel, 2400 Southern Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at St Jude Thaddeus Church at 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Frongillo, Michael Frongillo, James Lopez, Patrick Chapman and Tom Chavez.
