BETTY JO Age 71, passed away July 11, 2012 after a long illness attended by her "hero" husband Lester Slaback. Betty worked for The U.S Forest Service in Albuquerque before moving to Arlington, VA where she worked for Defense Nuclear Agency and later for the National Bureau of Standards in Gaithersburg, MD. She loved travel, gardening and the companionship of people. Betty was a volunteer with the SPCA and NCCA. Betty was preceded in death by parents Lloyd and Lillie Boyd and brother Jimmy Boyd. She is survived by her husband Lester; sister Peggy Ward; niece JoDawn Ward; step mother June Boyd; many relatives and friends including Tena Stewart, Pauline Reitz and Jean Blake. Services will be at 11:00AM, Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Fairview Cemetery, 700 Yale Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM, 505-842-8800.
